Modern Slavery Act Statement

1. Our business

Nicholas Peter Haddock, trading as Nick Haddock Lock & Safe Engineers, is a Sole trader (individual business owner) based in Kent, England. Work is carried out personally by Nick Haddock, with occasional assistance from a small number of vetted local subcontractors for heavy lifting and transport. There are no overseas operations.

2. Our commitment

We have zero tolerance for slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour and human trafficking in any part of our business or supply chain, and we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all commercial dealings.

3. Supply chain

Our supply chain is short: UK distributors of safe locks and boltwork, UK steel and paint suppliers, courier services and a small number of specialist manufacturers, principally in the United Kingdom and Western Europe. We favour established suppliers who publish their own anti-slavery and ethical sourcing policies.

4. Due diligence

• New suppliers are asked to confirm compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
• Subcontractors provide right-to-work documentation and are paid at or above the Real Living Wage, directly and never through unverified labour agencies.
• Suspiciously low-cost offers from unknown intermediaries are declined.
• Any credible concern ends the relationship and is reported to the appropriate authority.

5. Awareness and reporting

Engineers working in domestic and commercial premises can encounter signs of exploitation. Where we have reasonable suspicion, we report it to the Modern Slavery & Exploitation Helpline on 08000 121 700, or to the police, without alerting anyone at the premises.
